I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with adults and older adolescents with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and trauma. Much of my experience has been working with individuals who have been significantly distressed for some time, but who have strengths and can function well in many areas of life. Fundamentally, I work from a psychodynamic orientation, which recognizes that the sources of your distress can be complex and often out of your immediate-awareness.

I believe that whatever you feel or think or do, occurs for understandable reasons-even if they are troubling or not so clear. I enjoy working with people in an empathic, non-judgmental way to make sense of these reasons. Practically-speaking, this process aims to make relationships more satisfying, goals more attainable, and freedom more accessible.

My work is guided by the notion that psychological distress is often related to habitual ways of perceiving and interacting in the world--ways that have protected and helped you in the past, but now tend to get in the way of living a more satisfying, enjoyable, and efficient life.
Services
I am a licensed, clinical psychologist.
I have also completed formal psychoanalytic training.
I specialize in both long- and short-term psychotherapy.
I value thoroughness as well as practicality.
I draw from many different treatment modalities, depending on your needs.
However, fundamentally I work from a psychodynamic orientation that examines the interplay of historical, emotional, social, and biological factors that contribute to your strengths and vulnerabilities.
A psychodynamic orientation takes into consideration that one's thoughts and actions are influenced by feelings-feelings that can be complex, contradictory, and frequently out of one's immediate awareness.
I conduct psychological testing and assessment services for all age ranges.
I specialize in emotional functioning and personality testing.
This testing captures frequently undetected types of emotional disruptions or vulnerabilities that are often not included in neuropsychological testing.
It can be very helpful in cases where the nature and extent of one's emotional problems are not so clear.
A typical psychological assessment includes the administration of various tests to determine one's strengths and vulnerabilities with regard to personality and emotional functioning, as well as some cognitive functioning.
