The First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, South Carolina brought their vision of a christian counseling center - a place that would serve both the church and the community - to life in the late 1980s.
Over the last twenty years The Christian Counseling Center has grown to include thirteen Licensed Professional Counselors, six Licensed Professional Counseling Associates, one Staff Psychiatrist, five administrative staff, and continual openings for graduate intern counselors.
Each year thousands of people are helped in Columbia and the surrounding area through the services of The Christian Counseling Center of First Presbyterian Church.

The Boundaries Intensive Workshop is a 10-hour therapy experience designed to lay a foundation for understanding the basic concepts of boundary setting.
This workshop occurs periodically throughout the year.
The Caring for Caregivers group serves those people who assist aging and ill loved ones and enable them to stay in their homes.

As a 501(c)(3), the Christian Counseling Center offers counseling to individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.
We do this through the generous donations of our partners in ministry.

Dr. Barbian received his Doctorate in clinical psychology from The Cambridge Graduate School of Psychology in Los Angeles.
He also holds a Masters Degree in marriage, family and child counseling, and a Bachelors Degree in Biblical studies.
He has had extensive counseling experience in private practice as well as in a church setting.
He was co-director of Associated Christian Therapy Services in California and has been actively involved in church leadership for many years.
Dr. Barbian's primary specialty is the treatment of Sexual Addiction.
He also holds a Masters Degree in marriage, family and child counseling, and a Bachelors Degree in Biblical studies.
