Missouri Substance Abuse Counselors' Certification Board

We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.

The Missouri Addiction Counselors Association is a not-for-profit Professional Organization for Counselors living in or working in the State of Missouri. MACA will actively engage in those activities which promote the integrity and professionalism of addiction counselors. MACA will provide continuing educational opportunities to addiction counselors, counselors-in-training, and other counseling disciplines.

MACA will inform legislative and government officials of Missourians' treatment needs. MACA will explore and pursue ideas and principals which advance the Professional recognition of Addiction Counselors in Missouri.
Services
Dr. Goldstein has an adult brain injury (ABI) psychotherapy and counseling private practice at the Brain Injury Foundation of St. Louis (BIFSTL).
He treats individuals, couples, families, and care-partners impacted by all varieties of acquired brain injury.
Dr. Goldstein subspecializes in aphasia.
He focusses on harnessing the healthy tissue toward rewiring affected systems.
Metatheoretically, Dr. Goldstein is an existentialist.
In practice, he employs evidence-based treatment protocols customized for each case, integrating motivational interviewing, behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducation.
Clif Johnosn worked 33 years in the field of substance use disorders beginning in 1987 at Koala Center in Lonedell, Mo.
Have a degree in human services, credentialed as a substance use disorder counselor and compulsive gambling counselor.
He has been employed for the last 27 years at Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health in Farmington, Mo. as Chief Stakeholders Relations Officer and Director of Clinical Compliance.
Synopsis: As a CARF surveyor many times I see planning for appointments, triggers, etc. after treatment, but not enough about what recovery life will be like outside of the treatment support world, with those that don't understand a recovery person means.
Ms. Ridenhour is an accomplished practitioner and presenter and has been chosen as our 50th Anniversary Conference Keynote Speaker.
Ruth Ridenhour started her career in the Educational Field moving into the Mental Health/ Substance Use field in 2005.
She obtained her master's in counseling in 2007 and has been working as a Mental Health Counseling since 2009.
She went back to school to obtain her Doctorate in Business Administration/Human Resources in 2016.
She has spoken at many conferences and given several in services on topics such as Ethics, CBT, Behavior Modification, Group Dynamics, Goal Development, and Tobacco Cessation.
Ricky Maggard will present a 1 hour session on how ethics shift as you move from a peer support role to a counseling role.
He is an articulate and inspirational speaker.
He currently serves as Residential Manager at Turning Leaf (FCC) in West Plains.
He began his career after being involved in a nonprofit as a Certified Peer Specialist, moving though the steps of being an associate counselor and finally moving on to becoming a CRADC.
He states, "I have found my calling in working with the population we serve and I am blessed."
