Services
I offer compassion, honesty with discretion, Biblical insight and a broad range of experience to those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relational problems, parenting, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, serious mental illness, stress and mood management.
My clients include older adolescents, men and women, and couples.
I make use of evidence-based research, sound psychological understanding and recognized standards that are consistent with Biblical truth to promote emotional health and reconciliation in relationships.
Anxiety is beneficial in some situations, helping you work harder or prepare thoroughly for an upcoming event.
Fear is a normal human responses to real or perceived threats.
Anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat.
You may experience nervousness before an essential test, important work presentation or a meeting with the parents of your fiance.
Physical symptoms like increased heart rate, shallow breathing, sweaty palms, even stomachaches, commonly accompany such anxiety.
If you notice these symptoms intensifying and lasting longer, if the nervousness feels like fearfulness about upcoming events and you have a strong desire to avoid a situation, then you may be struggling with clinical anxiety.
We wholeheartedly believe and commit to our Statement of Faith.
All counseling theory and techniques utilized will be consistent with our Statement of Faith.
We are committed to providing professional counseling services in accordance with local, state, federal, and organizational laws, statutes, and ethical guidelines.
We are committed to addressing the holistic development of our clients-physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual.
We are also quick to refer those issues that are primarily pastoral in nature to a church pastor or pastoral counselor and those that are primarily physical in nature to a physician.
We all have times of feeling discouraged, "blue, " or sad.
Some of us have a more difficult experience-long periods of depressed mood, loss of interest in things they once enjoyed, painful thoughts about ourselves and others, struggles with sleep, eating, energy and concentration.
Those of us struggling with depression tend to isolate from others.
We can feel tangled in cords of hopelessness.
This can lead to thoughts about ending our lives.
Clinical depression is a complex, painful disorder involving the total being: mind, body and spirit.
It can be difficult at times to pinpoint what is going on inside your child.
Symptoms of depression, anxiety, abuse or trauma, manifest differently in a young child's developing body and brain than in an adult's.
That is why the counselors at CHARIS partner with the whole family to gain a broad perspective on the factors that may be influencing your child's and your family's current difficulties.
Our counselors have training and years of experience in parenting skills and family systems.
In addition, two of our rooms are designed for kids with play figurines and materials for a variety of expressive techniques such as sand tray, play and art therapy.
