Do I have to struggle with disordered eating to come to the Center?
No! Although, Dr. Smitham and Dr. Van Tuinen both specialize in eating disorder treatment, they have each graduated from doctoral programs offering "generalist" training.
This means that they are trained in research supported treatments for most mental health conditions.
Additionally, both therapists have extensive experience helping couples and families achieve healthier relationship dynamics.

When seeking mental health treatment, and treatment for eating disorders in particular, finding the right treatment provider is key.
No! Although, Dr. Smitham and Dr. Van Tuinen both specialize in eating disorder treatment, they have each graduated from doctoral programs offering "generalist" training.
This means that they are trained in research supported treatments for most mental health conditions.
Additionally, both therapists have extensive experience helping couples and families achieve healthier relationship dynamics.
Why choose a specialist?
When seeking mental health treatment, and treatment for eating disorders in particular, finding the right treatment provider is key.
Evaluation and individual/couples'/family therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes in length at the rate of $160/session.
Extended 90 minute sessions are available upon request at the rate of $240/session.
Group therapy sessions are 90 minutes in length at the rate of $60/session.
Clear Horizons is considered an "out of network provider" with most major insurance companies.
Most clients are reimbursed in part by their insurance even for out of network providers.
Payment is due at the time of service, whether this is a co-pay or the full session fee (using out of network benefits or paying toward a deductible).
