Donn Peters, Psy D
Dr. Donn Peters, PsyD offers advanced training on Contemporary Psychoanalytic Tripartite Model. This program is designed for Master-level therapists seeking training in psychotherapy models. This dynamic and theoretical approach stands apart from the traditional Freudian model of psychoanalysis. The training includes three phases: supervised control cases, academic coursework, and therapy with trained supervisors using contemporary models.

Psychotherapy is a process requiring deep and penetrating looks into who we are and how we became so. Once we understand ourselves and our partners at the deepest level we have built a foundation for lasting change. Cleaning up the past helps us clear up the future.

My job, as I see it, is to help clients identify the subtle but powerful deeper causes, those patterns of coping and relating, that lie at the core of their difficulties, having accomplished that my job is to facilitate substantive conversation about the deeper issues.Much can be done to rebuild faltering relationships.

Our research shows that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other's hopes for the future.
Drs.
John and Julie Gottman have shown how couples can accomplish this by paying attention to what they call the Sound Relationship House, or the nine components of healthy relationships.
Dr. peters is one of only a handful of therapists in Utah that is fully trained and credentialed in the Gottman method.
Contemporary Psychoanalysis offers the most profound opportunity for enduring relief of the incapacitating symptoms that have impaired the quality of your life, as well as for extensive personal development.
Effectivity research comparing symptom oriented and short-term models i.e.
CBT, DBT etc. to psychoanalytic models show that psychoanalytic methods are at least as effective and often superior.
The upshot is this, therapies that utilize psychoanalytic models and methods show a longer lasting, more thorough effects with less relapse.
