Pleasant Avenue Family Counseling specializes in marriage counseling, family counseling and child counseling (through play therapy). The staff includes Dick and Bev Conant, along with Chad Dalessandri. They started in the family counseling profession in 1982 in Houston, Tx. Their out-patient offices grew to 30+ therapists and 7 support staff personnel.

They moved to Maine in 2011 and recently opened the Sanford location in the heart of York County and the Seacoast area. Our family counseling approach is Solution Oriented: We help you set goals, make changes, and grow rather than getting stuck in endless discussions about "the problem." We are confident in the power of God's word to bring about positive changes in your life and relationships.

Dick works with couples and adults, both married and single. Bev works with children through play therapy, as well as adolescents and married and single adults. Fees: We accept most insurance. Other arrangements can be made for those without insurance.
Services
The staff at Pleasant Avenue Family Counseling is diverse and experienced, each specializing in a different area.
It's a privilege to be "invited" into one's personal life.
I never take that for granted.
My task is to understand and appreciate how the individual is interpreting what is happening to them and to walk with them through their journey.
Along the way we are in the process of figuring what can help to make that journey easier and less conflicted.
It is a focused attempt at aligning the soul of the individual with the heart of God; to give up the need for control and accept God's offer of help.
Would you prefer to work with a male or a female?
If you want to work with Dick Conant call or text him at 207-475-4156 or send an email to therapy@roadrunner.com and let him know of your desire to start counseling.
Counseling can help in many situations.
Some individuals might need a safe person and a safe place to discuss their inner most thoughts and feelings.
They may want to do something that would prove harmful but they don't know why.
A counselor can help draw these motivations out so they can be explored.
For many people our services are covered by insurance.
Clients who desire to know for sure can call their insurance company and check whether Richard (Dick) or Beverly (Bev) Conant are in their insurance company's network.
Sometimes simply going onto the insurer's website and looking for a "Find A Provider" search link to determine whether Richard or Beverly is in their network is possible.
Clients with insurance coverage simply pay a co-payment and we submit the claim forms to their insurance company as a courtesy.
