I am a Board Certified Clinical Mental Health and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years in private practice providing assessment, counseling, and education for children, adolescents, adults, and senior citizens. My comprehensive approach is grounded in treatment that produces results.
Services
KLF Counseling and Consulting, PA provides individual, group, training, seminars, and referral services to patients, clients, medical/mental health/legal/education professionals, and other business desiring assistance with employees or employee related issues.
Mental Health Services are provided by contracting with an insurance provider, personal payment, or credit/debit charge accounts.
Wellness Services are provided for clients to learn stress management, self-esteem programs, communication skills, and other topics as promoted within the practice with accepted prevention guidelines.
KLF Counseling and Consulting, PA provides individual, family, couple, and group services to residents of the Coastal areas of South Carolina.
The updated location is 1107 48th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
The office is private, confidential, with easy access for clients and their families.
Additionally, KLF Counseling & Consulting, PA provides quality EAP services through several contracted companies, such as Magellan, CIGNA, United Behavioral Health, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, First Sun, Morneau Shepell, and others.
Kathy L. Fortner, EdS, LPC, CCMHC is a Licensed Nationally Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor with both a Master's Degree in Counseling from WV Graduate College and an Ed. S. Degree in Counseling from Marshall University Graduate College.
She taught in the Marshall University Graduate College Counseling Department as a Adjunct Faculty member with specializations in Psychopharmacology, Human Appraisal, and Integrated Model of Mental Health and Medical care.
Ms. Fortner has again been, through the recertification for three Boards, CCMHC, BCC, and BC-TMH for another five year recertification process, as of 2017 through 2023.
Life can provide events or circumstances that may prove to be overwhelming in the everyday lives of individuals and their families.

When circumstances arise, such as those listed above, the result may be the need for professional mental health mental health or specialized educational services.
Research has demonstrated, in many situations, chemical imbalances and/or certain medical conditions, can result in symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, or other mental health concerns.
What is Employee Assistance?
Employee Assistance is short term, brief, non-medical counseling provided by an individual's employer at no cost to the employee.
The number of sessions can range from 3 -8 depending upon the seriousness of the presented by the employee and/or their family member.
EAP Services are not the same as therapy or counseling services.
The employee must contact their Employee Assistance Case Manager to obtain authorization for the services prior to their visit to the clinician (Mental Health Professional).
