Jean is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She received her BA in Psychology with a Minor in Philosophy from Rhode Island College and her MS in Human Development and Family Studies with a Concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marital and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and the Connecticut chapter (CTAMFT).

Jean has worked with children, adults, families, and couples for more than 10 years. Jean has experience doing therapy in offices, schools, clients' homes, and in the community. She utilizes CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy, including both Behavioral Interventions as well as Cognitive Restructuring), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy, and other approaches.

She has well rounded experience but specializes in adoption and attachment problems, self-injurious behavior (ex: cutting), anxiety disorders, couples therapy, parenting issues, and LGBTQ populations (particularly transgender issues, including helping clients move through their transition with hormones and/or surgery).

We treat people struggling with adoption issues, behavioral disturbances, parenting, domestic violence, grief, anger management, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attachment disorders, family conflict, adjustment to life changes/stressors, bipolar disorder, depression, divorce, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), mental retardation and developmental delays, peer relationships, low self-esteem, trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-injurious behaviors, suicidal ideation, sexual dysfunction, LGBTQ2 issues (including a specialty in transgender issues and transition), bullying, insomnia/sleep disturbances, personality disorders, stress, unemployment, spirituality and cultural issues, and more.
We are also happy to bill your insurance for out-of-network benefits and can often match in-network out-of-pocket costs.
For those who don't have or don't want to use their insurance, we offer self-pay and sliding-scale fee options (ranging from $40 and up).
We accept multiple payment forms including cash, checks, and credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, and Discover).
