The Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (SIPP) has been in operation since 1989 as a post graduate psychoanalytic training Institute. Beginning in 2018, we are also a Psychoanalytic Professional Learning Community offering annual membership to New York State licensed professionals who are looking for camaraderie, professional stimulation and a network of professionals in the wider mental health community of the Greater New York area.
Throughout the years we have remained true to our guiding principles, ideals which contribute to our unique psychoanalytic community. While offering workshops, colloquia, book discussions, movie discussions, round table conversations, we are first and foremost a professional community and organization dedicated to maintaining an internal environment that is experienced by its constituent members and the greater professional community as respectful, inclusive, and professionally fulfilling.
In addition to social work, we now offer Continuing Education credits for psychologists.

Psychoanalytic training prepares the therapist to work with even the most challenging patients in a variety of settings.
It enriches our understanding of the human condition by fostering greater empathy for our patients' experience and greater awareness of our own, as participants in the therapy relationship, providing us with priceless tools above and beyond whatever we've obtained on route to our academic degrees.
By engaging in these training programs, you have a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally, regardless of your professional work setting.
