Ann Wolf is licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She provides counseling services in Monmouth County in her office in Red Bank. Mrs. Wolf holds a Master's Degree in Psychology from Kean University and has completed all coursework for an Ed. S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hall University. She works with adults, teens, children, and families. Being a cancer survivor herself, she has a personal interest in helping individuals and their families deal with the emotional issues and challenges of coping with a serious illness. Through her experience she has learned to appreciate and to relate to many different types of people, and is particularly interested in helping people successfully come back from extreme and life disrupting events.

Mrs. Wolf's approach to counseling includes using Cognitive Behavioral techniques (helping the client discover new ways of thinking about feelings and situations), Strength Based concepts (focusing on client strengths as resources), and a Person Centered approach (the client and therapist collaborate on counseling goals).

However, when feelings of intense sadness - including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless - last for days or weeks and keep you from functioning normally, you may be depressed.
Depression is a serious but treatable disorder that effects millions of people, from young to old and from all walks of life.
Depression gets in the way of everyday functioning and causes tremendous pain.
Depression doesn't just hurt those suffering from it-it impacts everyone around them.
Some people describe depression as "living in a black hole" or having a feeling of impending doom.
Coping with cancer is a roller coaster of medical and emotional issues.
You can be upset and lonely one day and filled with energy the next.
You might want your loved ones around you and then the next minute want to be by yourself.
All of these feelings and many more and more can be part of your experience.
It is important to know that there is no "normal" way to experience or respond to cancer and the treatment it requires.
Cancer is a devastating illness that takes over your life and leaves you physically and mentally exhausted.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an approach to treatment which helps a client by focusing on changing the way he or she thinks and acts.
During the sessions, a client is encouraged to talk about how he or she views him or herself, other people, and the world at large.
The client will also be encouraged to explore how actions affect how he or she thinks and feels.
The goal of CBT is to help a client change the way he or she thinks, which is the "cognitive" part of the equation.
Making positive changes to action is the "behavior" component.
Conjoint therapy is an approach to treatment where two or more clients are seen together in a therapy session.
This type of therapy may be used in marriage counseling or to deal with issues between a parent and a child.
Clients dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following military service or another traumatic event who are having trouble in their personal relationships may also benefit from conjoint therapy.
During the sessions, the couple or family members can get help to improve their communication and coping skills.
Family systems therapy is used to treat and heal strained or broken family relationships.
It can be used in a number of situations, including issues around communication, roles and expectations in the relationship, grief and loss, and parenting styles.
It can also be helpful when blending families or in cases where couples or families need help to achieve and maintain an emotional connection.
The underlying theory of family systems therapy is that all of a person's emotions and ways of relating to others are learned through the relationships which he or she has growing up.
