I am one of the few counselors in the New Orleans area who is openly part of the LGBTQ+ community. Most people, when they seek out counseling, may already be in a difficult time in their lives.
The last thing you want is to struggle to find a counselor who is LGBTQ+ affirmative while still filled with the fear of having to come out to someone new. The frustration of not being able to easily find that specialized support sparked my motivation to become a counselor. My desire is to ease that frustration and invite you to have a therapist who understands the levels and complexity of self and social acceptance.
