We understand that some people want to find out a bit more about counseling before they book an appointment. If you want to know how therapy could help you - we have multiple options for getting your questions answered. If you are not quite ready to go ahead and book an appointment with a therapist right now, perhaps you have some questions and think it would be good to talk to someone at Cache Valley Counseling first so that you can be 100% sure that we can help you.

We realize that some people may be "unsure" if therapy is right for them. It could be that you're not sure that it'll work, or whether we can help with what you've got, or maybe you had a bad experience somewhere in the past?

Whether you've come looking for Specialist Therapy advice because other counseling has let you down, you don't take favorably to the "wait and see" option that is nearly always advised by friends or family, or you're VERY health-conscious and already know that Specialist Counseling IS your BEST option, you're about to ENJOY the same transformation in your relationship or mental health as thousands of others who have seen proven results in their ability to feel more connected, to either themselves or their partner, faster than they ever thought possible.

These are questions we hear every day.
Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma?
Each of these, whether an ongoing and severe case or a recent and mild event, can lead to major changes in your life.
Our therapists help people just like you every day to work through some of these challenging situations.
Are you feeling overwhelmed parenting a difficult child?
Have your family dynamics changed due to death or divorce?
Are you trying to blend a family?
Do you have a child with physical, mental, social, or emotional challenges that is impacting your family?
I recognize your efforts and desire to obtain happiness and healing in your life and relationships and I am so happy that you are here.
To help you, I strive to create an environment where you can feel safe to go to your hurt places and navigate your healing processes, whether as an individual, couple, or family seeking therapy.
I know this can be difficult, so I work hard to be there with you in the process to help you experience real changes in your life and relationships.
I am especially passionate about providing therapy to couples and families and have received advanced trainings in both Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) and Attachment Based Family Therapy, both of which heavily influence my work with individuals as well.
I love people and I am passionate about mental and emotional health!
I am prepared to help clients with a wide variety of needs, including life transitions, mental illness, stress, early-release missionaries, and couples/relationship challenges.
My first goal in therapy is to create a safe place for my clients to receive the support and care they need.
It takes courage to come in for counseling and I honor the process of building trust as we work together.
I have seen first-hand the transformation in my clients as they have bravely faced challenges of every kind - from anxieties and addictions to depression and divorce.
John has been a licensed marriage and family therapist for more than twenty years.
He received his Ph.
D. in Family and Child Sciences, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Florida State University.
He was an award-winning teacher at FSU and also earned a scholarship for his research on the influence of multi-generational families on adolescent and young adult identity development.
After completing his education, John returned to his home state of Nevada.
During the next few years, he gained valuable experience serving those struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, broken relationships, and other challenges.
I first became interested in couples counseling during my master's program.
I hated seeing couples fight and not getting what they needed from their partner.
As I saw them fight, it broke my heart to see the pain that each partner was experiencing yet not able to express.
I never liked watching families get torn apart by divorce and felt like there had to be a way to help people find each other again.
There is so much love and passion in relationships.
In moments of disconnection it can be easy to perceive things from a hurt or angry perspective.
