Attachment trauma is something that we carry with us into our relationships as adults.
Services
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Oregon, license #T1565, providing mental health services in Oregon since 2010.
I provide in-person and virtual trauma-informed therapy, respecting diversity and multiculturalism.
My philosophy and approach towards treatment is person-centered, with the belief that each person has all the answers, and the ability to solve their problems within themselves.
I see my role as an assistant in reaching the best solution for each person's unique situation.
The Principal that gave me my first job as a School Counselor used to end her morning announcements the same way each morning by saying, "make it a good day or not - the choice is yours".
I began to realize what she meant over the years and more than a decade later, the concept still frequents my mind and conversations almost daily.
I won't say that a simple statement said hundreds and hundreds of times changed my life but I will say that it shaped my mindset which had a profound effect on my lifestyle.
Have you ever noticed that sometimes impressions from the past, prevent us from seeing the good in the present?
Wondering why that is?
It could be your self-esteem playing tricks on you.
There are people who seem to have everything going for them outwardly and yet, on the inside actually feel insecure, trapped in some strange circle where they can barely achieve their goals, even if they have all the tools inside themselves.
On the other hand, there are people who seem to have everything come easily to them.
A happy home is an important part of having a content life.
However, every family goes through struggles and communication issues.
I see conflict in families all the time as a licensed marriage and family therapist, so I want to share with you tools I often use with families experiencing conflict.
The Lenient Parent - On the opposite spectrum we have the lenient parent.
While some parents have a more friendship-like approach to their childrearing, this style of parenting can also be detrimental to a child's wellbeing.
But let's be honest.
According to infidelity statistics, about 40% of unmarried relationships and 25% of marriages see at least one incident of infidelity.
An issue of Marriage and Divorce journal also stated that 70% of all Americans engage in some kind of affair sometime during their marital life.
Infidelity often sneaks in the back door, disguising itself as harmless fun or innocent behavior in the beginning.
Couples often become disconnected, lack vulnerability, hold resentments, or just stop prioritizing their relationships.
