We will be located in Suite 119 on the first floor of Midtown Square. There is parking on the west side of the building (By Sta-Fit) to most easily access our office space. Milestone Counseling is continuing to provide teletherapy and in-office appointments for both new and current clients. Please schedule according to your preference. We continue to use the HIPPA compliant, teletherapy website called Doxy.me.

Please access our Teletherapy page for more information and for links to your therapist's virtual waiting room. Currently clients do not need to wear masks in our lobby, but it is recommended if you are not vaccinated. As our lobby is fairly small, we continue to ask that adult clients do not bring guests with them to wait in the lobby during their appointment.

For minor children we ask, that as much as possible, only one person waits in the lobby during the child's session. The birth of Milestone Counseling was not dramatic, but rather began as a quiet dream shared among friends.
Services
The therapists at Milestone Counseling have a wide and varied experience of working with children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals.
We have all worked in a variety of therapeutic environments before creating Milestone Counseling.
We hope we have achieved our goal of creating an environment that we like to describe as "professionally casual."
We are sincere about our professionalism, yet want clients to feel comfortable and at home.
I've been practicing as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for the past 17 years.
There are a wide variety of therapeutic techniques or strategies used in therapy.
Most therapists are trained in multiple forms of therapy and use a variety of those techniques to aid their clients in achieving their goals.
Below is a brief description of a few therapeutic techniques that you may have heard of, or be interested in that we use at Milestone Counseling, Inc.
The belief of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is that a person's mood is directly related to the person's thoughts.
The goal of CBT is to help people recognize negative thought patterns, assess the accurateness of those thoughts, and alter those thought patterns with healthier, more accurate thought patterns.
Your information is totally confidential and you do not have to worry about it getting spread amongst your family or friends.
Because we are not a part of your "real world" we do not have a personal investment in your choices, therefore you can freely express yourself without fear of backlash or judgments.
We will however offer guidance based on your desired goals.
Because we are not a part of your "real world" you also have no emotional attachment to us which also makes it easier to be open to ideas or possibilities that we may suggest versus hearing it from your significant other, parent, or friend.
At your initial appointment the therapist will be doing a Diagnostic Assessment.
This is when the therapist gains information about the presenting problems, symptoms, and family history.
This information helps your therapist to better understand your situation and to determine an appropriate diagnosis, just like when you go to your medical doctor.
The Intake Form is a tool the therapist uses to help them gather that information.
If you are using your insurance, please remember to bring your insurance card with to your first appointment as well.
When the welcome screen appears, type your name in the box.
Click "Check In" and you will then be entered into a virtual waiting room.
When your therapist is ready, they will connect to bring you online.
If you have any difficulty logging in or have questions about using teletherapy, please call our office at 320-774-1621.
Most insurance companies cover teletherapy the same as a face-to-face session.
However, please be aware that it is ultimately your responsibility to verify coverage with your insurance company.
