As long as I can remember, I always wanted to help people. My first opportunity came when I was a stay at home mother of two, and decided to take in older foster children. My husband, who was a former foster child himself, and I fostered several challenging cases, mostly teens, over 19 years.
In the end, we adopted two of them, a brother and sister. We learned a lot about ourselves during this time, our strengths and our weaknesses, as our parenting skills had never been challenged like this before.
