Services
A birth doula (pronounced DOO-LA, from the Greek word DOULE meaning "one who serves") is ". a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible, " according to DONA International.
Doulas believe in the magic of birth and trust women's bodies to do what they were created to do.
They offer emotional support and encouragement, provide continuous physical comfort measures and share evidence-based information and valuable resources.
Stephanie has had a passion for the intricacies of pregnancy and the birth process for many years.
Becoming a birth doula and lactation counselor has been a calling that naturally found its place in her life.
Having given birth herself 3 times, Stephanie knows intimately of the possible challenges and needs of pregnant and laboring women.
It is her mission to fulfill these needs for you knowing that each woman is unique and responds differently to pregnancy and childbirth.
As a birth doula, Stephanie stresses the importance of understanding your wishes, sensitivities, fears, and most importantly, your dreams.
A doula's presence and care are associated with shorter labors, a reduction in interventions (cesarean sections, epidurals, labor inductions, episiotomies, etc.), increased rates of successful breastfeeding, and more satisfying births.
In addition to caring for you, a doula supports and guides your partner and family so they can be there for you in every way necessary and possible.
The support of a doula will ease your mind and lessen your fears.
This alleviates stress, allowing your body to relax so it can do what it's meant to do.

A Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) is a trained professional that assists women who are new to breastfeeding and/or women who are facing specific challenges related to breastfeeding.*
A lactation counselor can reassure a breastfeeding mama that everything is going well after observing the new mother and baby breastfeeding together, simultaneously checking on latch, positioning and arrival of mature milk.
Specific challenges that arise for breastfeeding moms could include: position, comfort, latching difficulties, nipple/breast pain, low milk supply, over supply, inadequate baby weight gain, and pumping.
