I am an experienced psychotherapist providing counseling to adults, couples and adolescents in the north end of Seattle, Washington. I invite you to explore my website and contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to speaking with you! Within the caring, supportive experience of the counseling session, we will work together to help you heal and grow.

Therapy is the process of guiding you to learn about yourself and to unlock pain and unproductive patterns. Together we will discover your inner resources to bring more strength, joy and hope to your life and your relationships. I am fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) and offer specialized services for Deaf, Deaf/Blind and Hard of Hearing clients.
Services
I have been working as a psychotherapist in private practice since 1986.
I am a Licensed Mental Health counselor in the state of Washington and am certified by EMDRIA (the EMDR International Association).
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, I graduated from Emmanuel College with honors, in Music Therapy.
Upon moving to Washington State in 1978, I trained and became certified as an American Sign Language Interpreter.
I worked as a freelance, community interpreter for 10 years and then attended graduate school at LIOS (The Leadership Institute of Seattle) where I completed my Master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Counseling and Leadership.
EMDR has been used with a wide variety of emotional and psychological problems including PTSD, anxiety, phobias, depression, attachment disorders, etc.
I have had years of success helping clients work through traumatic and/or disturbing events which regular talk therapy has not been able to resolve.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy treatment developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro to help people heal from trauma.
EMDR is based on the concept of an Adaptive Information Processing model (AIP).
A tried and true book which explains that anger is an important signal that something is wrong and is critical to pay attention to.
She describes how anger can be a vehicle for creating powerful and lasting change.
This book is as relevant to men as it is to women.
From the originator of EMDR, this is a practical, user's guide, which explains trauma and how it can impact our lives.
It offers tools and techniques based on EMDR that you can work on at home.
This is not a substitute for therapy, but an incredibly helpful adjunct.
Every insurance plan is different so I urge you to call your plan ahead of time and find out the details of your mental health coverage.
You may also call my billing service, Northwest Clinical Billing and speak with Don Kenyon at 1-800-831-3322 who can assist you in determining your benefit.
I am a preferred in-network provider for several insurance companies including: Premera Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield, Aetna, Regence, First Choice, Kaiser, Value Options, MHN and others.
As a courtesy I do direct billing to your insurance company.
