Formally, I use a Cognitive Behavioral Approach to counseling. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence based practice that helps individuals understand his/her thinking and how this affects their behavior and feelings. In addition to a formal approach, I am intuitive and can understand the client at his or her level. The first step in the therapeutic process is for the therapist to "get it".
A genuine regard for the client goes a long way in enhancing the therapeutic process. Once a person feels genuinely heard, accepted, and understood, they are able to open their mind to new possibilities and experiences. It is at this point where I begin to utilize the proven techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and we begin the journey of healing, and finding the beauty in life.
