We are thrilled to announce that we have opened a second office in Old Fort, NC! This new satellite office will serve clients in the Old Fort, Marion, McDowell, and surrounding areas. Our main office is in Black Mountain. Learn more about our office locations on our "Become a Client" tab. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Black Mountain Counseling Center provides mental health counseling services without regard to a client's ability to pay.

Services are provided by licensed, experienced counselors working with children, adults, seniors and families within Western North Carolina. Black Mountain Counseling Center, INC was formed in 2007 when Ellen Begley, LPC, a child counselor at the time, was approached by a woman seeking mental health services following the closure of Blue Ridge Mental Health.

Realizing that the Swannanoa Valley had a huge need for affordable, accessible care, Begley, along with Jack Culbreth, and Bill Christian formed the Black Mountain Pastoral Care and Counseling Center.

Where are you from?.
It's the first question people in casual conversation ask, and the answer is always geographic.
The real answer?
Truth to tell, we are "from" a life-long litany of people, places, things, events, and ideas: a composite of faces and places, realities, and experiences we need to revisit if we want to figure out and put into words who we are and where we are from.
Black Mountain Counseling is made up of many counselors with different areas of expertise.
To begin, call our office.
A member of our staff will ask you a few questions to better identify your need.
You will be assigned to a counselor to you that best matches your needs.
The counselor will then call you to schedule your first appointment.
Generally, this process takes 24-48 hours.
If you have not received a call from a counselor in 48 hours, please let us know.
We have many counselors offering a variety of services.
The best way for us to get the best help for you is to call us.
Our number is 828.669.9798.
By calling us, we're able to talk with you directly and ask you questions to pair you with the best counselor for you.
An office staff member will take down your information, such as the best way to contact you and what the presenting issues are.
If someone doesn't answer, please leave a voicemail message.
Someone will get back to you within 24 hours.
In your voicemail, please tell us who's calling, how we can get in touch with you, and what your presenting issues are.
Mental illness and disorders are more than feelings.
They can affect you physically.
You or your loved one might have a loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, headaches, feel fatigued, or have memory problems.
You might feel angry or irritable, sad, or tired.
Our mental health is so integral to our whole being.
Black Mountain Counseling Center offers a wide array of counseling services.
However, this list is not exhaustive.
If we do not believe we have the expertise to provide the services you need, we will help find someone who can help.
