SCG therapists are trained in both mental health counseling as well as theology and spirituality, and are open to the ways that one's faith may be an asset in healing and health.

We will discuss topics such as grieving well, grief after traumatic loss, coping with the loss of a child, infant loss, and grief intervention strategies with our understandings of our faith interwoven each evening we gather.
All are welcome at one, some, or all of the sessions.
We will close our group with an intimate celebration of the lives of our loved ones.

While Sanctuary Counseling Group (SCG) has a standard fee for services comparable to fees charged by other agencies in our catchment area, in compliance with the Samaritan Institute and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors guidelines we can use a fee-adjusted sliding scale based on household income and family size when necessary.
Fees for counseling are negotiated between the client and the therapist.
Insurance coverage is often available and is determined on a case-by-case basis.
It is recommended that new clients contact our client accounts coordinator in the Central Office (704-375-5354) to verify insurance availability, deductible, and co-pay prior to their first session.

At SCG, we provide professional faith-based counseling and psychotherapy to persons struggling with a variety of issues including stress, self-esteem, guilt, anger, depression, anxiety, grief, marital and family conflict, domestic violence and child abuse, peer pressure and parenting, life changes, illness, spirituality and more.
We work with individuals, couples, families and groups of all ages - adults, children and adolescents (depending on counselor training and experience).
Since families come in all shapes and sizes, we work with single-parent families and step-families along with nuclear families.

The Solihten Institute (formerly the Samaritan Institute), located in Denver, Colorado, is the international headquarters for a network of 91 professional counseling Centers located across the United States and in Tokyo, Japan.
It began in Elkhart, Indiana in 1972 when a physician, two parish pastors, and a seminary professor observed that by working together, ministers, therapists, and physicians were very effective in helping people with stress-related problems.
