The Women Half Way Home Foundation was first started in July of 2016 as the brainchild of Melanie Cheatham-Witt.
Melanie has worked in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections as a Correctional Officer in both men's and women's Correctional Facilities and saw the need to further rehabilitate due to the number of repeat offenders coming back to the facility.
Many times people would be re-incarcerated because they had no structure in their lives and had never been taught to be self-sufficient, or due to drug or alcohol use, and breaking the law to support their habits.
