Making the decision to come in for counseling is important and we feel excited you've made the first step into this life-changing journey. Everyone faces different life circumstances and not every counseling appointment is the same. We encourage you to read through the types of counseling we offer, and see what may be the best fit for you. If you're unsure of what you may need, or this is your first time seeing a therapist, don't worry, we will work with you to discover what you may need.

Collaborative Counseling Group, serving Fort Mill, Rock Hill and Charlotte was established by Charles and Buffy Wimmer who have over 24 years of experience in Charlotte counseling services.

The husband-wife duo has actively been assisting individuals and couples in marital counseling and mentoring, the coaching of men, trauma therapy, and leading marriage seminars internationally, in Florida and across the Carolina's.

Collaborative Counseling's focus is to work along side the individual, couple or family to help achieve the desired outcome.
We are committed Christians who desire to provide a safe place for anyone within the church family or those still searching for their significance.
I experienced real physiological changes as a result of Brainspotting.
I was able to focus more on the present and spent less time distracted by the past.
We believe in holistic therapy.

We believe the integration of all three, as well as one's relationships within their community, if balanced and authentic, can give one a whole-hearted, shame free well-adjusted life.
The initial session is called an intake or assessment.
During this initial session the individual will complete their forms and meet with the counselor for 90 minutes.
A personal history, review of any medications, past therapy, family history, and any medical and /or psychological concerns will be discussed, and then collaboratively working together we will formulate a treatment plan for future appointments.
Before leaving, the client will make several appointments of 50 minutes to then implement the desired goal each individual desires along with the counselor's guidance.
Buffy is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
She received her undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and her Masters in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Buffy worked as a pastoral counselor at a large church in Charlotte for almost 10 years and is currently in private practice.
She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
Buffy has Level I & II in EMDR for trauma, Level I Brainspotting, Formational Prayer, Positive Psychology, Prepare/Enrich, and has two levels of training through the Gottman Institute for couple and marital therapy.
The initial session will be 90 minutes with the purpose of gaining the needed information from both partners.
We offer many different types of marital therapy or couple's therapy and those options will be discussed with you at the initial appointment.
You may choose to see Charles Wimmer- Pastoral counselor, his wife Buffy Wimmer- MACC, Licensed Professional Counselor or both together.
Or one of the other therapist in the group.
We find the most productive appointments are when couples attend together and also schedule individual sessions.
The American Psychological Association defines trauma as: an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape or natural disaster.
Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical.
Longer term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea.
While these feelings are normal, some people have difficulty moving on with their lives.
Therapist can help these individuals find constructive ways of managing their emotions.
