I am a licensed professional counselor practicing in Orange County, North Carolina. My goal is to empower each one of my clients by creating a non-judgmental therapeutic environment that respects their dignity and self-worth. Therapy provides the opportunity for growth, self-discovery and insight in the context of a safe, supportive environment. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, significant reductions in feelings of distress, and an overall improved well-being.
Services
Please arrive 10 minutes early in order to complete intake paperwork.
At our first meeting we will assess your current strengths, abilities, needs, and concerns.
If I am not the most appropriate person to help you or if you need a different level of help than individual counseling we will discuss other options that meet your needs.
I have two options for length of sessions, a standard 50-minute session and an extended 80-minute session.
Sessions are usually held once or twice a week, based on your treatment needs and scheduling availability.
Before we meet please call your insurance provider to see what your benefits for outpatient mental health visits are.
Ask your insurance company about their out-of-network coverage', yearly deductible, percentage they will reimburse, and whether a prior authorization is needed.
We can discuss this at your first visit.
Please note that regardless of your insurance's reimbursement rate, you will be responsible for the full fee.
Additionally, I am not responsible for unpaid insurance claims.
Due to my status as a non-Medicare provider, I am unable to accept persons into my practice who are covered by Medicare (either as primary or secondary).
Cognitive-behavioral therapy-stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do.
It is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings.
The therapist assists the client in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying his or her thinking.
The therapist then helps the client modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them.
CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client and often calls for homework assignments.
