Dr. Barabas and his associates have years of experience successfully treating adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Dr. Barabas and his practice associates have developed a reputation of professional excellence. They regularly treat individuals referred from primary and specialty care physicians to improve psychological problems affecting medical conditions.

Dr. Barabas' practice uses evidence based cognitive-behavioral methods and psychological testing to diagnose and treat people with various psychological disorders, dysfunctional behaviors, and relationship problems. Barabas is wonderful! He is kind and very understanding. He is also doesn't judge the people in the situation, he talks to you about how things could change even if you change one little thing.

He is very soft spoken and not intimidating. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I went through several psychologists before meeting Dr. Barabas. He is far easier to talk to and unlike 2 of the others, doesn't interrupt every 5 seconds with why do you feel like this or what makes you act this way.
Services
I practice a person-centered, strength-based approach to counseling.
I believe you are the expert in your own life.
I collaborate with you in developing a plan to meet your goals.
Together we identify your strengths, where you want to be in your life, and the steps to get you there.
The focus of my counseling is on creating solutions to overcome current obstacles, building resilience toward future obstacles, and improving your overall well-being.
One of things I am most passionate about is educating people on the components of well-being and showing them ways to exercise their personal strengths toward improving well-being.
Sessions generally last between 45-60 minutes.
Some insurance plans limit the duration of sessions (check with your health insurance plan).
Most health insurance plans are accepted.
Participation in insurance networks is subject to change.
If your specific health insurance plan is not listed, it does not necessarily mean Dr. Barabas does not participate.
Some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits for mental health services.
You must call your individual insurance carrier to determine coverage and benefits.
Confidentiality still applies for telepsychology services, and nobody will record the session without the permission from the others person(s).
We agree to use the video-conferencing platform selected for our virtual sessions, and the psychologist will explain how to use it.
It is important to be in a quiet, private space that is free of distractions (including cell phone or other devices) during the session.
It is important to be on time.
If you need to cancel or change your tele-appointment, you must notify the psychologist in advance by phone or email.
Dr. Barabas provides career assessment and career specific counseling to aid prospective college students with identifying a major or a potential career path.
Dr. Barabas does not provide educational testing or testing for educational purposes such as learning disabilities, intelligents (I.Q.), dyslexia, special education or placement testing.

Dr. Barabas will provide in-home mental health services (AKA -house calls) on a special arrangement basis.
In-Home services can be an appropriate way to provide psychological treatment for disorders that prevent people who are unable to come to an office for traditional psychotherapy.
Home-based therapy works well in conjunction with tele-medicine, tele-health, and tele-mental-health to provide effective and low cost treatment.
ER visits and hospitalizations are very expensive in comparison to home visits.
