Familyworks
I have counseled adolescents and adults for over 2 decades. I love my work. I am a Vermont State Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, consultant, workshop presenter, clinical supervisor, university instructor and non-denominational ordained minister. I work with individuals, couples, and families. As a parent myself, I understand the complexities of raising a family, parenting and co-parenting.

I currently specialize in working with couples with a focus on intimacy, sex, and communication issues. I balance my private practice with teaching, supervising and presenting workshops on a variety of topics throughout the Northeast. Barbara has been working with my son, as well as my wife and I regarding some issues my son has been having. She has been such an amazing resource for us, and she is helping us all to work on issues, to let our defenses down, and to gain insight.

She is compassionate and caring, but she is also willing to give someone a "kick in the pants" when needed. She meets you where you are at, provides a practical path forward, and is there to guide you through the scary steps of growth and change.
Services
We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch.
Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.
I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, and solution focused techniques depending on what is most helpful for you and your situation.
Together we will decide on the best treatment strategies, how often to meet and when to end therapy.
My new office is located above the Flying Pig Bookstore in Shelburne Village.
The office has gender neutral bathrooms, an elevator, wide pine floors, high ceilings, two windows, central air/heat and plenty of free parking.
There's a coffee shop across the street.
I ask that all clients wear masks until they reach my couch and that hands are washed immediately upon entering the building.
PLEASE NOTE: I am currently at capacity and NOT accepting New Clients at this time.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you prefer, you can email me before completing the form to determine whether I have openings.
If I have an opening, I will then send you the Disclosure & Permission to Treat Contract via Docusign which must be signed and returned to me before your initial consultation.
Once you complete the Contract you will then have access to my Online Scheduler to schedule an Initial Consultation.
Cancellation Fee: If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, do not show up for your appointment, or are more than 15 minutes late, you will be charged the full session fee (see above).
If you have Medicaid, I can not charge you a missed appointment fee.
However, if you miss more than three times, I reserve the right to terminate therapy.
If you do not have insurance or choose not to use your insurance, I'd be happy to discuss a sliding fee with you.
If you have a copay, I ask that you pay your copay at the time of your session.
Most people have questions about how therapy works.
It's important to ask questions.
You have the right to understand your treatment and what you can expect to happen in therapy.
Most people are anxious about entering therapy for the first time and often don't know what to expect.
It is normal to feel uncomfortable or nervous about talking with someone new, a stranger, someone you don't know.
My job is to do my best to help you to feel comfortable, to explain how therapy works, and to invite you to tell me, in confidence, what has brought you to therapy now.
