Our mind, body, emotions, and soul are interconnected aspects of who we are. Holistic psychotherapy can give you new perspectives and tools to help you find more fulfillment in your relationships, move through life transitions, heal past wounds, and grow beyond limiting patterns to find new, more enlivened ways of being in the world. It's more than talk therapy.

It's important to have a place to say how you feel, to sort things out, to put words to feelings, and to truly be listened to, without judgment. What gets left out much of the time, however, is our bodily experience. Our bodies are engaged constantly in how we think, what we believe about ourselves and the world, how we feel, and how we act. Working bodily is powerful because it brings us directly to what is true for us in the present time, taking us out of stories and limiting beliefs.

Emotions, and strong emotions, are an important part of what makes us human. It is the ability to "press the pause button" and listen deeply to what is happening inside of us that allows us to cultivate a deeper relationship with ourselves and those around us.

I have been working in the field of the body-mind arts for over 20 years, first as a bodyworker.
I was certified as an acupressurist by the Acupressure Institute in 1993, and became moved by how people would have emotional responses when receiving touch.
As emotions and memories surfaced for clients on the bodywork table, I wanted to be able to help people explore more deeply the issues that arose, received a Masters degree at The California Institute of Integral Studies in the Somatic (body-oriented) Psychology Program, and upon completion, went on to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2002 (lic.

Talking is the foundation of most psychotherapies.

What gets left out much of the time, however, is our bodily experience.
Our bodies are engaged constantly in how we think, what we believe about ourselves and the world, how we feel, and how we act.
It's natural in our culture to try and "figure things out" by thinking things through.
Sometimes this is valuable, and we find solutions to our problems this way.
Many things in life are outside of our control.
Relationships ending, death, illness, not getting the job we want, or the partner we want, things that other people do that irritate us.
Learning to navigate these challenges and "surf the waves" is what allows us the opportunity for growth, to choose how we want to respond to the waves, rather than simply react in a habitual way.
When we are reacting, we are not aware of what is driving our behavior; in this way, we are driven by what is outside our awareness.
