Services
Our team of licensed therapists are experienced in Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other forms of counseling and psychotherapy.
Lona is the Founder and Director of Princeton Center for DBT and Counseling and a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician.
She has extensive training and clinical experience in providing DBT therapy as well as other cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based psychotherapies.
She is intensively trained in DBT and has participated on DBT treatment teams since 2006, and as a DBT Team Leader since 2010.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a model of psychotherapy, developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.
D. at the University of Washington.
It is designed to help individuals learn how to regulate intense emotions and gain control over self-defeating behaviors.
DBT has multiple clinical trials demonstrating its effectiveness by combining individual therapy with skills training and telephone coaching in between sessions to help participants build the life they desire.
A consultation team supports the therapist in providing effective treatment.
DBT Skills Groups are psychoeducational training groups in which skills are taught in the areas of: Mindfulness; Emotion Regulation; Distress Tolerance; and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
At Princeton Center for DBT and Counseling, DBT Skills Group Training can be done as part of comprehensive DBT (which includes skills training, individual DBT, and phone coaching); or as a supplement to another form of psychotherapy when appropriate.
Our adult groups are typically up to 8 individuals of mixed age and gender.
We welcome diversity and recognize that relationship challenges are universal but also influenced by social and cultural context.
The Gottman method was developed by Drs.
John and Julie Gottman.
It is a scientifically sound approach to helping couples, which is based on years of clinical research.
The Gottman method includes a data drive assessment and treatment plan designed to identify and target a couple's specific problem areas.
This approach strives to assist the partners in achieving a deeper sense of understanding, awareness, empathy, and connection within their relationships ultimately leading to heightened intimacy and interpersonal growth.
At Princeton Center for DBT we recognize trauma as both single life altering events such as assault, illness or injury; as well as developmental trauma that is pervasive, occurs repeatedly throughout an individual's lifespan, and manifests as chronic anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and/or low achievement.
We offer evidence-based methods which have proven to be highly effective for reducing post traumatic symptoms and improving overall quality of life.
EMDR was developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.
