Many of us have been taught that who we are is not okay. Because of this we lose touch with important parts of ourselves. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed or isolated. Counseling is the process of shedding light on these unexplored areas and regaining connection to ourselves and others. Throughout the counseling process I utilize my training in mindfulness, trauma processing, depth therapy, attachment theory, and relational/interpersonal approaches throughout the counseling process.
In addition, we will look at the cultural and social context in which you live and how these impact the challenges you face. I have received specialized training for working with trauma and PTSD: Narrative Exposure Therapy (a trauma processing therapy), Acceptance and Compassion for trauma, and Somatic Resources for trauma. I welcome and work with people of all races, gender identities, ages, sexual orientations, and physical abilities.
I'm committed to my own ongoing learning around biases and privilege, and how to use power in ways that support others to live and thrive in their diverse experiences.

Services
With attachment therapy, we will explore how relationships happened within the family, schools, and friends in which you grew up in and how this continues to impact your relationships today.
We will look at aspects such as: how you learned to feel love, to identify and express emotions, how to argue and come back together, and how you learned to self soothe.
Do you ever feel as if you react in ways that are unexplainable to yourself such as feeling rejected and texting your partner multiple times even though at other times you recognize that your relationship is stable?

I earned my master's degree in counseling psychology from Lewis & Clark College.
I have worked in community mental health, a small agency setting, and private practice providing counseling with diverse populations experiencing a broad range of symptoms and struggles, such as trauma, shame, gender-identity issues, anxiety, and depression, through one on one and group facilitation.
I have also completed my training to become an approved supervisor for LPC and LMFT interns.
After a long day, I like to play a game of cribbage or Ms. Pac-Man.

I would be happy to call your insurance provider on your behalf to find out how much your co-pay will be and how many sessions are allowed.
My standard fee for individual therapy is $125.
However, I do have some sliding scale spots so please check in with me if that is something you need.
With this rate, you will pay the full amount at the time of service, and I am happy to provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
