When students choose a path that aligns with their passions, abilities, and interests, they are more likely to thrive - academically and personally. We don't believe in using rankings to create a college list. Most people don't pick friends or spouses based on rankings, and colleges shouldn't be chosen that way either. We spend time engaging and talking with students to help them determine the right colleges.
There are many factors to consider in determining fit of a college, including the cost. Educating students and parents empowers them to make decisions that are right for their family. Unlike many college counselors, we don't charge a flat package rate - we bill by the hour. This allows families to use our services in the way that best fits the family's needs.
Most public high school counselors have several hundred students on their caseload - they simply don't have the ability to spend one-on-one time with students. College counselors can also act as a buffer between students and parents.

Services
Applying to college is a process and TFCC wants to make it manageable for students and families.
The following are recommended sessions for high school students.
In addition to getting to know each other, we spend time explaining the five possible things that make up a college application.
We say possible because with over 1,900 four-year public and private colleges in the United States, colleges vary in their requirements for admission.
We also discuss the three different types of colleges in the US (in-state public, out-of-state public, and private) and how the type of college impacts a student's admissibility and cost of attendance.

Everyone's path is different.
Some students transfer after being at community college.
Others transfer from 4-year colleges that aren't the right fit.
TFCC is here to help students with the transfer process.
Depending on what a student needs, we offer similar sessions as described in the High School Student section.
