My name is Chuck Sugar and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee, Nationally Board Certified, and a Mental Health Service Provider (MHSP).
I specialize in helping both couples and individuals walk through Depression, Grief & Loss Recovery, and all forms of Marital Issues.
But to simply state my credentials and specialties does not tell you much about me or why I feel my purpose is found in helping hurting people.

Marriage can be one of the most rewarding and, unfortunately, most hurtful relationships we can experience.
Let's work together to find and address the broken and/or unhealthy areas of your relationship, and create a relationship that works to safely resolve conflicts in a way that builds trust, intimacy, and hope.
Depression can bring life to a screeching halt.
Depression can make it difficult to focus, concentrate, feel motivated, pay bills, have quality relationships, eat well, and sleep well.

Marriage is amazing and life changing.
At the same time, I believe marriage is the single most difficult relationship in the world!
You take two people from different families, with different perceptions of self, different ways of parenting, different goals and dreams, different financial backgrounds and family rules, different ways of handling conflict, with different styles of communication, and you have a recipe for unacknowledged and unmet expectations which can lead to difficulty or even disaster!

I find that few things can take away a person's quality of life like depression.
It can make it difficult to concentrate, function in life or at work, focus, etc.
It is typical to go into a room in the house and have no idea what you went in there for in the first place!
The general routine of a day can seem so tedious as to be pointless.
Having quality relationships seems at best exhausting and hopeless at worst.
Depression can be disruptive of sleep patterns and prevent you from nourishing your body well.

Losing a loved one whether by death, divorce, or the ending of a significant relationship is one of the most difficult things a person can go through.
The saying "time heals" is only true if you are truly healing.
Time can prolong the hurt if someone is not grieving the loss in a healthy way.
This can lead to lack of trust, isolation, anger, hurt, resentment, addictions, workaholism and busy-ness as distraction, depression, and more.
This also applies to jobs, pets, etc.
In grief & loss recovery, participating in the grieving process is very important for real healing to take place.
