Services
Many people, throughout the lifespan, struggle with anxiety, socialization and coping skill problems, addiction/substance abuse, depression, anger, learning or behavior complications, grief, trauma, illness or other emotional problems.
Most people view these as mental health concerns.
A counselor will use his/her expertise in order to help the client discover ways to manage such issues and live a healthy and productive life.
Our counselors are trained to provide traditional counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
We believe that all individuals are capable of growth and change.
In counseling, a client's strengths are identified and mobilized to overcome roadblocks to personal growth and fulfillment.
A measure of confidentiality will be lost as certain future employers, new health insurance companies, background checks for gun ownership, and life insurance companies will all be able to view your diagnosis and make decisions about you based solely on that diagnosis.
Having coverage does not ultimately mean you are covered as insurance companies often place caps on how many sessions you may attend with your therapist and limits placed on specific counseling strategies that might be reimbursed.
At that time, there were no other counseling practices in Sturgis.
We believed that by offering counseling services we could help the community be a healthier place in which to live.
Our goal was to support people in reaching their full potential to lead happy and productive lives.
We wanted to assist parents in raising well-adjusted children by creating families that would be safe, nurturing, and supportive.
We also wanted to help adults and kids in negotiating the roadblocks that got in the way of achieving these goals.
It takes a cause backed by thousands of supporters, said State Rep. Aaron Miller, R-Sturgis.
In an unprecedented case this month, it was mental health professionals united against the threat of being unable to care for their clients.
House Bill 4325 was needed to protect 10,000 Michigan licensed professional counselors and about 300,000 of their clients.
Their services were in jeopardy late in the summer because of proposed changes by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
