I started Simply Thrive Psychotherapy, PLLC as an individual therapist in 2014, after working in a larger group practice for our years. The thought behind the name of my practice relates to the ability we all have to make choices in our life. I truly believe that despite the challenges we face in our life we can choose to make different, better decisions for ourselves.
I did not know this at the time, but this belief was written about by Viktor Frankl. My other inspiration comes from nature, it fascinates me that a forest fire can destroy absolutely everything in its path, yet that very fire sets the groundwork for a richness of growth to come in future years. Another example is that of the butterfly. The butterfly starts out its life as a caterpillar- short, stubby and not very pretty.
When the caterpillar enters Chrysalis- this is a time of Metamorphosis- when rapid changes are occurring to the tissue, limbs and organs of the caterpillar that complete the change into a butterfly. How wonderful is this natural transformation!

Rachael is currently licensed as an associate, this means that she has completed her master's degree and has been granted licensure as a LMHC- however she is required to be supervised for the first two years of her clinical practice.
Rachael is being supervised by the clinical director- Dr. Seymanski, Rachael has completed her basic training in EMDR and is able to offer this as a treatment.
Because of her license, Rachael is able to see Medicaid clients who have a manage care plan - such as Molina, Amerigroup or Coordinated Care - as well as cash pay clients.

My wish as a counselor is to foster a trusting relationship between us in which you feel safe, accepted for all that you are (not only the "good" parts), able to express vulnerability, say no, and try new things.
I find that talking about hard things in the context of such a relationship is the crux of the healing process, to which we can add skills such as mindfulness and emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, changing thoughts, and many others.
My style is collaborative, adaptive, and caring--we will make goals together to decide what path is right for you.

As a Systemic therapist who also understands the importance of a person-centered approach, I help individuals, couples, and family's increase awareness of current emotional, behavioral, and communicative patterns that create a barrier to personal and interpersonal growth.
Recognizing the importance of culture and identity, I utilize an intersectional approach to each individual and family.
Life consists of beautiful moments of laughter and love mixed with the mundane, turbulent, and traumatic.
During life's moments of uncertainty and crisis, I provide a comfortable space that allows individuals, family's and couples the opportunity to express themselves, gain insight and develop skills to resolve life's challenges.

I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
During my doctoral clinical training as a generalist, I gained a broad range of clinical experience at an Illinois State psychiatric hospital, a substance abuse center, and a faith-based counseling center.
I completed my internship and post-doctoral training at a community mental health center and state psychiatric hospital in rural western Kentucky.
I was originally granted a psychologist license in Colorado in 2015 and spent the first five years practicing at three different group practices in Colorado.
