My name is Jason Esswein, and I appreciate you taking the time to visit the website for my private counseling and psychotherapy practice in San Jose, California. For well over a decade, I've been helping individual adults improve their relationships and their self-esteem, overcome anxiety, stress, and depression, and deepen their connections with themselves and the world around them.

If you feel stuck, unfulfilled, or a nagging sense of purposelessness, find yourself struggling with the relationships that matter most, or believe anxiety, stress, or depression are impairing your ability to live the life you desire, counseling and psychotherapy can help.
Services
While the focus of my work is on helping clients gain greater insight into, and awareness of, who they are, for those that are curious I'll take a few moments to provide a little more information about myself.
I truly feel privileged to do the work that I do.
Many people have asked me, "How can you do that job?"
I respond by telling them how honored I feel to even sit in the same room with people who are willing to take risks, to share things that they have difficulty sharing with anyone (even themselves), and to do the work necessary to make their relationships and their lives the best they can possibly be!
As human beings, we all think about and value the quality of our relationships - our past and present relationships with others as well as our relationship with ourselves.
And one of the most important things we can learn in life is how to forgive.
When we're unable to forgive ourselves or others, feelings of worthlessness or bitterness can slowly consume our thoughts, feelings, and spirits, as well as take their toll on our physical health and well-being.
Although we all suffer temporary setbacks and loss, this doesn't mean we're meant to live in a perpetual state of anguish or grief.
If you're tired of repeating the same patterns that aren't getting you what you want out of your relationships and your life in general.
If you're willing to accept responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions.
Individual counseling and psychotherapy can help you achieve the insight and awareness you need to create the changes you seek!
Now, I know this may seem like a lot of "ifs, " but there's one thing counseling and psychotherapy require in order to be effective and that's your desire to be honest with yourself and do the work necessary to find your own answers.
Are you going through a process of spiritual growth and personal awakening and beginning to perceive things beyond your previous experiences?
Are you beginning to doubt everything you've previously known to be true, including the meaning of your life?
I often receive calls from individuals looking for help with spiritual awakenings and transformations, those who are looking to do "shadow work, " and those who are experiencing spiritual breakthroughs that they're having difficulties handling on their own.
Everyone feels anxious or stressed from time to time.
Common situations such as meeting tight deadlines, important social obligations, or driving in heavy traffic often trigger feelings of anxiety.
Anxiety can be defined as nervousness and an inability to relax, and some amount of anxiety is normal for human beings.
Anxiety can even be helpful and advantageous, as it tends to heighten our senses when we feel threatened.
Having said that, if you or someone you know is constantly worrying about something, fears taking part in social situations, experiences panic attacks, or feels anxiety is interfering with relationships, sleeping and eating patterns, or professional or personal responsibilities, professional anxiety counseling can help.
