After obtaining my masters degree in psychology, my first professional position was doing clinical research on psychiatric disorders at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences ( TRIMS ) in Houston, Texas.
As clinician and researcher, I, with the team of psychologists and psychiatrists conducted studies on Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, Tourette's disease, and a variety of severe mental illnesses.
Multiple studies we conducted were published in professional journals and I was a contributor to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM III), establishing the diagnostic criteria for severe mental illnesses.
