Place Of Peace Counseling & Therapeutic Center
Place of Peace was created to help individuals, couples and families in our community navigate the stressful nature of dealing with mental health and other life challenges. We are a group of psychologists, therapists, counselors and social workers who use cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and meditation and trauma therapy, among other things, with the goal of helping individuals create a peaceful place inside themselves.

We know this can be difficult, especially when we are struggling with anxiety, depression or emotional pain. Our therapists use empirically-validated and time-tested treatments to help you identify the cause of your pain, heal the underlying issues that are leading to your symptoms and build new skills for healthier habits and patterns. Develop skills for coping with anxiety, depression and other mental health symptoms as well as the challenges of negotiating interpersonal relationships.

Learn skills to escape from worry, conquer negative thinking and master the use of your mind as a problem-solving tool.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems that almost all of us have experienced at one time or another.
In fact, in such a fast-paced, high-pressure world, it is difficult to avoid.
For some, it is chronic and takes a toll on the body and immune system, leading to physical health problems over time.
Stress is a common cause of anxiety and can take many forms, from time pressure and deadlines to arguments and difficulty getting along with others.
Read about some of the common symptoms and manifestations below to see if you might have a problem with anxiety and stress.
When you are struggling with depression, the world can seem to lack color - nothing brings joy, feelings are numbed, sadness pervades.
This common mental health problem can affect all areas of an individual's life: mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially.
If untreated, depression can feel like a constant struggle and an uphill battle, but there are ways to combat it, and we are here to help.
An untreated episode of depression can take months or even years away from you living your best life.
A one-time direct or indirect experience of death, threatened death or serious injury, or the knowledge that a relative or close friend has been exposed to this sort of trauma.
An overwhelming medical diagnosis, the onset of a disability or a strenuous and life-interrupting course of treatment for a medical problem.
Any experience that leads to altered beliefs about self, others and the world.
This includes things that the average person would not think of as being traumatic, such as being picked on at school, criticized by a parent or having to take an inappropriate level of responsibility for oneself or another person at a young age.
