Services
After scheduling an appointment, each client receives a diagnostic evaluation during their initial intake assessment.
The psychologist will look over your completed paperwork and ask you questions regarding any symptoms you are experiencing.
Additional information may be gathered in order to help determine a diagnosis if one is present.
After reason for therapy and symptoms severity are established, you and your psychologist will collaborate to develop a treatment plan specific to your needs.
Treatment plans include achievable short-term and long-term goals you would like to work towards in therapy.
At Cognitive Behavioral Counseling it is understood that taking the first step can be the most difficult.
This is why Dr. Berman provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment in which counseling can take place.
In order to keep your safety a priority, Dr. Berman is currently providing Telehealth and Telemedicine services.

Cognitive Behavioral Counseling offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) services in Bryn Mawr PA.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is an umbrella term referring to a variety of evidence-based approachs often labeled as the "gold standard" of treatment.
CBT works by helping individuals understand how negative thoughts and emotions contribute to maladaptive behaviors patterns.
In "traditional" CBT, clients identify "automatic thoughts", develop more effective ways of thinking and challenge existing beliefs through behavioral experiments.
Cognitive Behavioral Counseling offers Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) services in Bryn Mawr, PA.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT, is a modern process-based therapy (PBT) often referred to as the "third wave of CBT".
Traditional CBT aims to reduce unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviors by challenging the accuracy of these internal experiences and developing a more adaptive thinking process.
Traditional CBT treatment packages are complex and diagnosis specific, where process-based CBT such as ACT treats multiple diagnoses at the same time.
While addictions to drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping, eating and sex provide short-term relief from unwanted feelings, it also comes at a significant cost.
Attempts to avoid emotional pain results in a violation of our inner most values, negatively impacting ones personal, spiritual and relational well-being.
And here-in lies the problem.
Making decisions inconsistent with ones values notoriously leads to the experience of guilt and shame, the Hallmarks of addiction.
Here at cognitive behavioral counseling, we will work with you to reconnect to your values and be your true self.
