Compassion, kindness and non-judgment are essential to the healing process. I support you in bringing healing to the parts of you that have been wounded and remembering the parts of you that are strong, compassionate, and wise. I frequently work with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, and depression. I specialize in helping people who are dealing with the impact of childhood abuse - trauma, on their life and in their relationships.

My approach is interactive and holistic and I incorporate EMDR, mindfulness, visualizations and somatic awareness into my work, along with other methods that I have found to be effective in supporting healing. EMDR is an evidence based method that can support you in your healing process.

My focus is both on teaching you tools to bring relief to uncomfortable feelings and situations that you may be experiencing right now, while also supporting you in healing the core issues/experiences that are at the root of the difficulties you face today.
Services
People from all walks of life come to therapy.
Frequently people come to therapy because something doesn't feel good in their lives and while they've perhaps tried on their own or with friends to resolve their issues, something is still upsetting to them and they become aware that getting support from a therapist may be helpful to them.
In my work as a therapist I come from a place of kindness, compassion and non-judgment.
I am interactive in my approach.
I find out from you what is important to you, what is blocking you from living the life you want and we go from there.
EMDR is an approach to trauma developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987.
It is a tool that has been widely researched and demonstrated to be an effective treatment for those who have experienced trauma.
EMDR appears to have a direct effect on how the brain processes information.
It is believed that traumatic experiences (both large and small) get stored in our memory network and get stuck.
This leaves a pattern of automatic feelings and thoughts that get evoked when we remember the traumatic experience or when we encounter a new experience that in some way reminds us of the original trauma we are triggered.
I believe that compassion and non-judgment are essential to the healing process.
I strive to bring those values into my work with you.
Together we discuss what's happening in your life that you want therapy at this time.
The way I work is interactive.
I work to create an emotionally safe, supportive space for you to discuss, be with, what is upsetting you.
Our work may include problem-solving, support and/or in-depth exploration.
When helpful I assist you in identifying, expressing and being present with your feelings and support you in increasing your capacity to identify and express your emotions and needs.
My office is located in the Rockridge section of Berkeley on the Berkeley/Oakland border.
It is accessible by public transportation.
It is under a mile walk from the Rockridge BART station and there are also buses that run down College Ave.
There is 2Hr street parking in the immediate neighborhood.
My Office is #8.
As you face the building my office is located in (It's an old beige/pink victorian house with blue and purple trim) you walk to your left around the side of the building all the way to the back.
