Are you constantly feeling like you're just going through the motions?
Do you feel like there's a shadow looming over you even when life seem to be going well?
Is there always a bit of self-doubt, self-criticism or even self-loathing lingering in the back of your mind?
Perhaps you find it difficult to focus on the here and now because you can't stop yourself from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
You may feel like you're always teetering on the edge but don't know how to pull yourself to solid ground.
Contrary to what movies may portray, marriage is not always a fairytale walk in the park.
Marriage is difficult; it's learning how to give just as much as you take, to listen as much as you speak and to keep romance and intimacy alive despite daily stressors and outside forces.
In a nutshell, marriage is work.
If you and your partner are one of the millions of couples that are struggling to communicate and connect with one another, know that there is nothing to be ashamed of.
You are not alone and now is the time that you must ask yourselves one important question: Are you willing to work for your relationship?
Are you a recovering alcoholic, a former drug user, or someone who is currently struggling to maintain sobriety?
If so, you know first-hand just how difficult it can be to not only admit you have a problem, but to face it head on and commit to a better path.
Unfortunately with addiction, the internal struggle never goes away, and it can be exhausting trying to manage on your own.
Through my private practice, Bergvik Counseling Services, I have been providing alcohol and substance abuse counseling in New Haven, CT and surrounding areas for many, many years.
For many people struggling with an addiction or a mental illness, therapy is, quite literally, out of reach.
Some live in rural areas where the closest therapist is miles away; others suffer from physical or mental disabilities that make traveling difficult; and still others are too busy with school or work to find the time to make it to their next therapy appointment.
It is for these reasons that my practice provides online counseling, also known as online therapy or e-counseling, so that everyone can have access to mental healthcare.
Current clients will be grandfathered in at the old rate until further notice.
With the exception of the intake session, which is between 60 and 75 minutes, all sessions are 50-55 minutes.
I have been accepted as an authorized provider for Connecticut Husky Plans, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Beacon Health Options.
For those of you covered with Tri-Care I can accept you in network as well.
I have been accepted as a new provider with the Optum Health Care Network which includes Connecticare, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Oxford Health plans.
