At times we all need help sorting out life's complexities. At the Marina Counseling Center we offer professional, skilled, psychotherapy to address the challenges that life can bring. All of our therapists are Masters Degree level associates who are working to earn their hours towards licensure. Each associate is supervised by a board licensed Marriage and Family therapist.
Services
To provide high-quality, heart-centered, affordable, and accessible psychotherapy to our diverse San Francisco/Bay Area communities.
The MCC offers excellent training and supervision for the next generation of mental health professionals.
The Marina Counseling Center (MCC) has supported thousands of clients by providing low-cost, sliding scale therapy to the community since 1982, and have supported hundreds of budding therapists with an integrative and holistic training program for over 40 years.
The MCC is committed to doing the work to challenge systemic racism, dismantling white supremacy in therapy and exploring how our privilege can lead to blind spots as clinicians.
Bi-monthly meetings open to all of our community to create and implement diversity, equity, and belonging initiatives.
Ongoing trainings for the therapists in our community to discuss various aspects of diversity and equity.
Inviting in experts on diversity training for the MCC staff, leadership team, and board members.
The intake therapist will then call you at that scheduled day/time to learn about how we can support you.
After you have completed the initial phone intake and you are a good match for the MCC, you will be contacted by your assigned therapist to book an initial therapy session.
We are not in network for any insurance providers.
We can provide documentation if your insurance provider provides out of network reimbursement.
The Marina Counseling Center is seeking qualified trainees and interns who are looking for practicum placement or would like to begin an internship.
We select candidates based on the quality of their education, experience, and commitment to client centered care.
Our program emphasizes an integration of Relational, Contemporary Analytic, Transpersonal, Psychodynamic, and Humanistic-Existential approaches.
We seek individuals who are dedicated, skilled, and self-reflective.
The program requires approximately 20 hours per week and is a one year commitment.
I center my work around self-compassion.
I believe that only from a place of self-compassion can we feel grounded within ourselves enough to develop a compassionate relationship with others around us.
I utilize mindfulness and somatic body oriented work in order to help us connect deeper with our self and our inner knowing and to be able to cultivate trust with ourselves.
So much of our pain has occurred in relationship to other people, and I believe it can be helpful to work towards healing in relationship as well.
