Services
I bring humor, warmth, sincerity, and a calm presence to therapy.
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is safe and free of judgment so that you are better able to work through difficult and vulnerable life challenges.
I believe that the therapist and client are two equals in a room with one common goal: to help improve your life in whatever way that might be.
I have a passion for working with the LGBTQ+ population as well as those from various cultural or marginalized backgrounds.
As a biracial and LGBTQ therapist, I am able to provide a unique and empathetic perspective for those working through specific challenges that folks from those populations might face.
I have been providing therapy to young children and families for over 12 years and I love it.
My experience ranges from working with children and families in the foster care system in Washington, DC and school settings for children with severe mental illness to supervising an Autism program for pre-school children, as well as family and play therapy in a clinic setting.
I believe that families require flexibility and at times need help thinking outside the box.
Young children require a balance of praise and nurturing along with structure and guidance.
It's ironic because that's not at all how I work with my clients or how I am in the world.
I work best with people who are so sick of being unhappy that they are willing to make some changes.
I can't change you, you have to change and I am happy to help support you in that.
I AM NOT THE SMILE AND NOD THERAPIST.
I have a great BS detector, I will call you on your stuff and be with you through uncomfortableness.
We will laugh (a lot)!
I am not afraid to talk to you about anything.
After so many years in the field I'm unshockable and can handle anything.
I'm a solution oriented therapist, providing a consistent voice.
See me if you like a direct and straightforward approach.
I want you to feel better as quickly as possible and believe this is best accomplished using a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy also known as CBT.
My clients like that I hold them accountable.
I help push them toward their goals in a compassionate caring way.
We will break down big problems into manageable parts.
You will learn practical, hands on strategies that work even if your life is messy, painful or difficult.
Life can create great challenges that are difficult to cope with alone.
As a therapist, I create an empathetic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space for growth and healing.
Who you are and what you have experienced are unique, and so will your path to change.
Whether it is a specific problem in your life, a deeper issue that impacts your relationships or if you are uncertain about your goals, I will work with you to develop strategies for growth and healing.
I use integrative, individualized and evidence based approaches which help improve self awareness, and identify obstacles such as long standing behavior patterns and negative perceptions.
