Counseling is a team effort. During your first visit you will be asked a questions about why you sought therapy, your health, past history, and current symptoms. Be prepared to answer questions and describe your feelings of what is going on. Being able to be open and honest is important to being able to provide you with the best possible care. Also, you may have your own questions.
The more that you understand the therapy process the more comfortable you'll be and the more productive your experience will be. Having questions prior to your first session is helpful. Appointments will ordinarily be 45 to 60 minutes in duration for individuals, or 60 to 90 minutes for couples and families, once per week at a time we agree on, although some sessions may be more or less frequent as needed.
The time scheduled for your appointment is assigned to you and you alone.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide me with 24 hours' notice.
If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than 24 hour notice, you will be required to pay for the session.
