Have you been taught to keep, "family business" in the family? Does the thought of going to therapy bring up discomfort? You are not alone. It's normal to have hesitation when trying something new or there's been past harmful experiences. I offer a private and safe space where our time together is all about you. If you are curious about what that may be like, contact me.
Be Love Community Counseling was founded to provide a safe, healing space for people that have been oppressed, marginalized or have an identity outside of the "dominant" culture. Historic trauma and past harm may show up as challenges in current relationships, depression, anxiety, rage, low self-esteem, underachievement, oppositional behaviors etc.
You may think that something is wrong with you or judged by others while what you are experiencing may actually be a result of something that has happened to you or your ancestors. Therapy is empowering as you may increase awareness about what is keeping you from freedom to live the life you desire.

The Be Love Community Counseling icon depicts the Sankofa bird standing tall and confident amidst a Banyan tree and is an original drawing by artist Richard Cramer.
Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol of the Akan people and is an important symbol for all as it represents the power in remembering the past to move forward.
This remembering and moving forward with clarity, purpose, and passion is like the healing process that occurs through therapy.
Returning to the past may include paying attention and healing from historic traumas that have been transmitted through generations or giving attention to other hurts from previous experiences that impact one's present experience.

Q: How often will we meet and how long will I need to come to therapy?
Everyone is different however initially, we will meet once per week.
Weekly sessions are especially important to start as we build a genuine relationship, consider what may be most helpful for you and create a plan together.
Most sessions are 50 minutes unless other arrangements are discussed.
We will move toward having less frequent sessions and ultimately we will not meet when you meet and sustain your goals.
Some people meet for 5-7 sessions doing focused work and others meet for longer doing more in-depth work.
