When choosing a therapist, it's important to find someone who will listen, care, and meet you where you're at. I provide a safe, non-judgmental setting where together we can work on the challenges you are facing. Whether you are looking for couples therapy, marriage counseling, or individual counseling, I'm here to help. I welcome you to learn more about my approach as a psychologist.
I work with clients who struggle with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, anger, and depression. An experienced counselor can provide fresh insights and objectivity. In therapy, you'll start to see challenges in your life with a new and healthier perspective. When struggling with tough issues, it can be easy for couples to view one another as the enemy.
As your counselor, I provide a safe environment where the three of us can work together as a team. Couples learn how to interrupt destructive cycles and find new ways to connect with each other. Lisa makes you feel calm, relaxed and comfortable in being able to open up about difficult issues.

Services
Clients who have asked me to work with them in therapy have entrusted me with a great responsibility.
They have invited me to join them as a part of their team.
Because our working relationship is based on trust, I like to be open about my background and my approach.
I want to make sure people have the information they need to make sure they find the right fit.
Otherwise, the therapy just won't work.
And if it is something that falls outside my area of expertise, I'll do my best to connect you with a counselor who has years of experience in that area.

If you're a runner, you know how satisfying it can be to run on one of our beautiful trails on the Central Coast.
It may not be easy, but it's good.
It's the same with counseling.
There is work involved, but the payoff is huge.
Many clients look forward to our time together as one of the few places they can share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a private and nurturing place.
I'm here to listen, and at the same time, provide the openness and honesty they need to face their challenges.

In individual counseling, you'll meet with me one-on-one for a 45 minute session.
During these sessions, I provide a collaborative and safe setting for clients to work through their toughest situations.
My office is a place where clients are free to share their stress, anxiety, frustrations, and fears.
Some people are dealing with difficult family or relationship experiences.
Others have troubling memories that are interfering in their daily life.
Still others are plagued by thoughts that can lead to depression.

Psychomotor agitation or retardation: feeling sped up, slowed down, or experiencing unintentional motions.
Once someone is depressed for a significant length of time, it is extremely difficult to pull out of that state of mind.
That's because they have experienced a drop in the level of neurotransmitters, or chemical messengers, in the brain.
After that, it is rare for someone to be able to see any improvements in their mood or thinking without help.
It's a sensation like being stuck in quicksand.

I help clients who struggle to manage their anger.
They are tired of fighting with the ones they care about.
They often have stories of regret and shame over their behavior when they were angry.
They may even notice their loved ones acting towards them as if they are a ticking time bomb that could explode without notice.
Perhaps you've been given the advice that goes like this; When you get angry, don't explode.
Take a deep breath and count to ten.
The problem is, when your temper's up, that advice is like putting out a fiery explosion with a squirt gun: too little, too late.
