I work with people who feel "stuck" - in relationship patterns, work situations, or life in general. In psychotherapy, I can help you get unstuck so that you can thrive and create a more meaningful life. My approach is evidence based, pragmatic, and collaborative, and I provide flexible, personalized services to address your struggles.
Services
I am a Stanford-trained clinical psychologist (PSY 23935) specializing in working with life issues such as stress, relationship difficulties, depression, divorce, parenting challenges, and life transitions.
My approach is evidence based, pragmatic, present-focused, and collaborative, with an emphasis on helping people get unstuck and create more meaningful lives.
I spent several years working at Lyra Health, overseeing the coaching program and managing coaches to deliver care to employees of large Silicon Valley technology companies.
We can work together at my office or conduct sessions by phone or video.
This ensures we can continue our work if you are traveling or stuck at the office.
I am flexible with scheduling and make myself available in between sessions for check-ins or more in-depth work as needed.
My goal is to provide my clients with the highest level of care and to work deeply with each person.
For life crises such as going through a divorce or other major transition, I provide longer sessions to ensure you get the support you need.
Dr Aptekar's approach is integrative and based on techniques that have been scientifically supported.
She uses an active, present-focused, collaborative approach for each client, and may incorporate skills and tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Her psychotherapeutic approach enables clients to become more effective in handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings, and it encourages them to discover purpose and meaning in their lives.
ACT is an empirically-based psychological intervention that emphasizes such processes as mindfulness, acceptance, and values in helping clients overcome obstacles.
It helps people learn ways to let go of the struggle with pain, be more mindful, get clarity on what really matters to them, and to commit to living full, vibrant lives.
The goal of ACT is to teach you psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively, and to help you clarify what's truly important and meaningful to you.
CBT is an active, time-limited, collaborative approach which involves psychoeducation, skill building, and problem solving.
It is a targeted approach in which clients focus on concrete, specific goals that are important to them.
It has been shown to be highly effective in treating depression, anxiety, stress, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and many other problems.
CBT uses cognitive techniques to help clients become aware of the ways in which their thoughts can influence their feelings, and behavior therapy to make changes in your actions.
