With a specialization in relationship and couple's therapy in Portland, OR, my goal is to help individuals connect with one another on a deeper, more intentional level. I also specialize in complex trauma and trauma therapy, with a focus on the impact trauma has on intimate relationships and the individual. I want to take a moment to appreciate the step that you are taking toward healing.

Whether you are reaching out due to trauma that is impacting your daily life and relationships, your intimate relationship needs the spark reignited, or you are experiencing increased distress in your individual life or intimate relationships. Whatever is leading you to me, I want you to know that I am here.
Services
My name is Alexa Adams.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist providing healing and support in Portland, OR.
I received my master's in marriage, couples, and family therapy through Lewis and Clark College.
I specialize in couples therapy, trauma therapy, attachment, intimacy, and systems theory.
I have extensive experience working with couples, individuals, families, youth, and adolescents who have experienced complex PTSD and related attachment issues.
As a couples therapist, I specialize in working with how trauma and complex PTSD interacts with and impacts the couple dynamic.
I provide a sliding scale range for my clients, as I believe that therapy should be accessible to all.
During the first session we will discuss what price point you are able to reasonably afford based on the scale.
At this time, I do not bill insurance.
I am able to provide a superbill for you to take to your insurance to use for out-of-network reimbursement.
Being in relationship with another human being(s) can be rewarding, nurturing, and fulfilling.
It can also be difficult, stressful, and frustrating.
We all bring our unique selves, our pasts, and family histories into each relationship.
As a result, it can be challenging to find balance and harmony with so many different factors interacting with each other.
I believe everyone can benefit from couples therapy, whether you are newly together or have been together for decades.
Maybe you have lost the spark, are struggling through conflict and strain, are being impacted by trauma and attachment concerns, or possibly you are hoping to strengthen an already strong connection.
Life is tough.
At times it can feel overwhelming with responsibilities, the state of the world, relationships, and a million other factors.
Life can feel lonely, despite being surrounded by people.
As difficult as life can be, it can also be rewarding, loving, exciting, peaceful, happy, and fulfilling.
Individual therapy can help a person to clear and gain awareness for the barriers to finding joy and peace in your daily life.
Initiating and engaging in individual therapy or couples therapy can feel scary and uncomfortable; this is why I bring a highly relational approach and experience to each session to help therapy feel more comfortable in the uncomfortable.
I offer a collaborative, directive, and transparent experience in therapy sessions and prefer to join you in your experiences.
I use humor and humanness to help bridge connection and vulnerability.
I begin the therapeutic relationship by exploring your family history.
