Co-parenting counseling is a targeted, solution-focused counseling that addresses the specific issues related to collaborative parenting during and after a separation or divorce.
It is not individual or couples therapy.
The sessions may be structured by meeting with parents together or separately.
The purpose of co-parenting counseling is to assist parents in reducing their emotional reactivity, improve communication, and strengthen the co-parenting relationship so they can function in ways that facilitate their children's healthy adjustment to the separation or divorce and living in two households.
Therapy sessions take place in a private room provided by the school and furnished by Newport Counseling Center.
Students receive the same confidential services at the school site as they would at the main office.
School satellite offices eliminates children having to be taken out of school or parents having to miss work for therapy appointments while still meeting the needs of the population being served.
The therapy room is located in the Elementary school and Middle/High School students are given passes to come to the space.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an intensive treatment program that is designed to help both parents and children.
The PCIT program works with parents and children together to improve the quality of the parent-child relationship and to teach parents the skills necessary to manage their child's behavior problems.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an intervention for young children with challenging behavior that teaches caregivers specific behavior management techniques and play therapy skills as they interact with their child.
