Thank you for visiting Inside Family Counseling! My name is Mihaela Bernard but most clients call me Misha. If you need professional counseling for you and your family, you have come to the right place! My mission is to empower, support and guide children and adolescents, and parents of children and adolescents with special needs, facing emotional and behavioral difficulties at home or at school, for improved quality of life and a happy family.

I specialize in psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adolescents with special needs and I apply psychoanalytic theory to modern day problems and issues. What this means is that in my practice, I will use the trusting relationship I build with you and/or your child to help you modify the way in which you relate to others and to improve the quality of your relationships.

I am committed to providing a safe space for a long-lasting change, deeper understanding of oneself and an improved quality of life. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents and adults, who struggle with a wide range of behavioral and emotional issues, from divorce and adoption to self-injurious behaviors, eating and mood disorders.
Services
I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapist, specializing in working with children and adolescents, and parents of children and adolescents with special needs.
Ever since I was a little girl, I had a passion for helping people.
I dreamt of one day becoming a psychologist in private practice and advocating for the young members of our society and for the child, still living in the heart of every parent.
I promised myself never to forget what it feels like to a be a child so that one day I can help parents and their young ones communicate, respect and love one another.
I provide professional counseling services for the entire family.
Whether you need individual counseling for yourself, your relationship or your child, I am here to offer support, understanding and professional guidance.
During the first few sessions, I engage in a thorough mental health assessment in order to identify my clients' needs, strengths and available resources.
If medication is necessary, I collaborate with a psychiatrist to ensure quality of care.
Together, we work to improve the quality of your relationships with family and friends for a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
I specialize in treating children and adolescents who struggle with wide variety of behavioral and emotional difficulties, from acting out and self-injurious behaviors to eating disorders, autism and childhood psychosis.
Many of my child and adolescent clients need additional social and emotional support at home or at school.
I assist families in finding the right therapeutic and educational interventions by collaborating with school social workers, teachers and counselors.
We work together to help you and your family overcome and deal with issues such as divorce, adoptive kids, death in the family, special education needs, etc.
