People begin therapy for many reasons. Some need to respond to unexpected changes in their lives, relationship problems, depression or anxiety, while others seek self exploration and personal growth. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process in which we work together to make sense of the concerns that have brought you in, and work towards mutually established goals.
Those goals could include reducing anxiety or depression, finding clarity around a difficult situation or relationship, or gaining confidence and self esteem. This process can be both a rewarding and challenging experience. My approach is to collaboratively work with you in this effort in a caring, gentle and compassionate way. While I provide the setting and facilitate the process, the pace is always set by you.
As you may know, one of the most critical components for success in therapy is a good fit with your therapist. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable. If you have questions or are interested in talking with me, I encourage you to make an appointment to come in.

Services
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in both Texas and California, and in my second decade of private practice.
I earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelors in Business from Pace University, New York.
I completed an intensive two year fellowship at The Center for Psychoanalytic Studies.
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for many years in the corporate world of Manhattan.
This experience gave me an in-depth understanding of the pressures, demands, and expectations experienced by those working in these settings.

My therapeutic approach is a combination of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapy.
Cognitive behavioral simply means looking at how your thoughts and beliefs can affect your feelings, as well as your actions.
Psychodynamic therapy involves exploring past experiences and relationships to see how they may be impacting your life now.
Equally important as my therapeutic approach is the way I work, which has been described as warm, empathetic, open and real.
Clients have commented on my calm presence and ability to quickly understand where they are coming from.
