The decision to close Candor Counseling was not an easy one. I began the practice as a solo practitioner 5 years ago and I feel very grateful for and proud of the work that we've done over that time. In growing from a one-person practice into a small group, my vision was to create a supportive and lively therapeutic environment that would feel more fun and less clinical than traditional therapy spaces, while building a community of therapists that share my values of authenticity, community, and inclusivity.
At the time I thought that this would be the path that I walked for many years to come, and that we would eventually grow to become something more dynamic and community-oriented than a typical counseling practice. What I've personally learned from the past year, as I'm sure many of you may have as well, is that things don't always go as planned.
Between personal changes and pandemic-induced changes, I found myself standing on a path that I had worked hard to build - a path that I wanted to be on and still very much wish I could follow - and realizing that there is a different direction that I need to go.
